CEE™-Cell Enrichment and Extraction

Biocept has developed the Cell Enrichment and Extraction™ (CEE™) technology, which utilizes the company’s proprietary system to capture rare cells in a microfluidic device.

Optimizing CEE™ for Sample Enrichment

CEEMicrofluidics:  Placement of the posts and flow rates developed with mathematical models maximize cell capture in the microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) channel.

CEE™Attachment Chemistry:

CTCs are captured in transparent microfluidic chambers ~ 50 microns in depth that contain roughly 9,000 posts, in a volume of about 24 microliters. Captured cells can be viewed in situ by brightfield or fluorescence microscopy. By using reagents to immobilize the captured cells, the chambers can be heated to temperatures sufficient for the denaturation and hybridization of direct-labeled DNA FISH probes to targeted sequences. Finally, cells my be removed from the microchannels by high shear and concentrated for Taqman real-time PCR assessment of single gene mutations or deletions.
